Well folks, we made it. Winter’s finally tapped out, and the mighty Missouri is stretching its legs again. From below Gavin'

s Point Dam to the far end of Lewis & Clark Lake, things are waking up—and if your rods aren’t already loaded, you’re behind!
There’s something special about springtime fishing on this stretch of river. The water’s cold, clear, and full of promise. The walleyes are on the move below the dam, crappie are cruising the shallows near the timber, and you just know the bass are lurking, waiting for the first warm spell to kick into gear. If you’re not out there tossing jigs or running crankbaits, you’re missing the best early-season action of the year.
A Few Spring Tips from the Bait Shop:
Below the Dam = Hot Zone: The current stirs things up, the fish stack up, and the bite is strong. Just keep it safe and respect the flow.
Slow Rolls Win the Race: Spring fish are hungry but sluggish. Keep it subtle—think minnows, jigs, and finesse presentations.
Early Light, Easy Mornings: Sunrise over the lake? Doesn’t get better. Bonus: fish are active, and you’ll beat the boat ramp rush.
Tackle Check, Always: New year, same rule—check your line, drag, and knots. One weak link can turn a lunker into a ghost story.
Out here at Captain Norm’s, we’re stocked, stoked, and ready to roll. We’ve got your live bait, snacks, fresh tackle, and yes, plenty of hot coffee. Drop in before you hit the water, swap a few fish tales, and get dialed in for a killer season.
The Missouri’s calling. The lake is rising. The fish are biting.
Let’s get back in the swing of things. See you on the water,
—Captain Norm (aka Dan & Kevin)
